Recently in different Installfests or Techdays, people showed
interesting in trying install OpenSolaris into their hard disk. (Of
course, they already used "device driver utility" to know if OpenSolaris
is suitable for the hardware)
BUT the next problem is - they don't have any primary partition l
And of course it is not the CPU alone, the Blade 1000/2000's
System-Interconnect with Crossbar-Switch handles up to 4 GB/s. No other legacy
sun4u ws compares to it.
The io is *amazing*.

Pretty much so, except 3DLabs ever opens the specs.
Even on Linux_x86 you depend on closed bins for those chipsets (which don't
exist for SPARC-Solaris-Xorg). It is a long story. Linux kernel gen

I am still running an old Sun Blade 100. It runs as a headless server with the

Hi,
this is one of the things for which I actually required "website-editor"
status: I finally have new (very special) glasses. And no pain in my right eye
anymore. Now I can do normal desktop work. The first fox-gate related thing I
did was the long-promised hw compatibility matrix.
More SPARC

Fervently Seconded. OpenSolaris/SPARC in the data center nowadays
pretty much demands sun4v support in the form of T2000s and Huron/VF
boxes. A sec
For deployment, I would like to see UltraSPARC T2+, UltraSPARC T2 based systems
supported.

Ultra 60, Ultra 80, T2000 are what machines I have access to (All are
remote) a full CLI environment on par with the standard x86 offerings
is a must. As for installation, text is fine, over serial would be
nice for the ones with a graphics card, and is a must for the T2000 as

Fantastic!
As a developer I'm using an Ultra 10 and a Sun Blade 100, but a desktop
environment is essential for me.
