I'd certainly vote for integration into zfs-auto-snapshot ;)

As a result of a power spike during a thunder storm I lost a sata controller
card. This card supported my zfs pool called newsan which is a 4 x samsung 1Tb

controller/disk numbers, but now have the following issue.

Hi Gilles,
Thanks for those details. That enabled me to successfully build pidgin.
However my question was more targeted at finding out if the process I was
following is the correct process to build ANY tool from its spec file. It
seemed to me that there was a piece of the puzzle missing in my

The reason i was confused is that I did :-

Not sure if this was a packaging issue in snv_94 or a "me" issue ;-)

Hi Folks,
I had a hunt around on a new install of snv_94 and i cant seem to find java

package?
Thanks in advance

Hi Folks,
I installed the dhcp server for opensolaris using "pkg install SUNWdhcs" and
went to configure it with the following result:-
-bash-3.2# /usr/sbin/dhcpconfig -D -r SUNWfiles -p /var/dhcp
dhcpconfig: Can't load library: /usr/sadm/admin/dhcpmgr/dhcpmgr.so.1

-bash-3.2# ls /usr/sadm/
I tried both things concurrently
svccfg -s x11-server setprop options/tcp_listen=true

and now X apps work fine direct to my OS0508 desktop.
Thanks for the help everyone.

Thanks guys, that worked fine.
Note to dev's however.. I think this needs to either have its own proxy
configuration dialog tab or work off the gnome prefs one.
A large majority of folks these days work from behind a http proxy. There is no
point in putting a tool on the gnome menu's that,
Can the GUI package manager that comes with 0805rc2a.iso utilize a http proxy?
If so, how do I configure it?
My first guess was that the gnome "network proxy" preference would control
this. However after configuring my http proxy therein i am still unable to
install a new package. The tool i
just out of curiosity i ran up a nexenta livecd that was sitting right next to
the samba server case and i can see all the disks i expect when i run "format"

So I have been running an indyp2 machine as a samba server for a week or so, no
issues. One night I was showing a friend a slideshow of pictures off one of the
shares and it locked up. I didnt think anything of it till i went to chk the
samba machine the next day. It was locked up and i had to p
Thanks for that Alan I had already tried SUNWxorg-headers (should have
mentioned that in the last post), but it did no good. installing
FSWxorg-headers did the trick. Now I have mpeg2dec-0.4.1 installed clean.
Unfortunately the other components seem to need a newer version of Glib and

looks like those dont exist just yet on pkg.opensolaris.org. the only SUNWxorg

If anyone is compiling/has compiled these components for indiana preview2 could
you please post detailed steps/prereq's. I attempted it but only got as far as

Hi Folks,
Wasnt sure who to inform about this so im posting it here.

Sooo I got my Indiana Preview2 installed. Looking for webstack

Ok so if i am understanding correctly, what is being said is that there is an
old apache package and no mysql/php available for preview1. And my options are
to wait for an unknown period of time (not long) for preview 2 or compile all
this myself.
I guess i will wait for a week or so and see i
Ok, so in the short term, how can i get an amp stack on my indiana preview1? I

Hi Folks,
I was wondering if there is already Webstack or and equivalent AMP stack

Hi Folks,
I have just noticed the SMF method for samba on Indiana is only starting smbd,
and not nmbd (nor winbind). I was wondering what the correct method would be to
automate start/restart/stop of nmbd under Indi.
Would it be :-
1) expand on the samba smf method to also act on nmbd ?
2) have
