e1000g NIC (in Lenovo ThinkPad R61i) hangs after reboot (i.e., the yellow LED stays on, and the device no longer can be detected). This happened right after I installed OpenSolaris 2008.05 from the LiveCD. The e1000g NIC worked w/o any problem when initially booted from the LiveCD. However, after installation to the harddrive which necessitated a reboot, the network no longer worked.
One voodoo type approach to work around this problem is to shutdown the notebook, unplug the NIC cable, wait for a few seconds (don't know whether this extra step is necessary), re-plug the cable, then power on the system. The e1000g NIC would work again. I am not knowledgeable enough to even guess what's going on, but if anyone can, or even better, offer a solution to avoid this nuisance, will much appreciate it. Thanks. -- This message posted from opensolaris.org _______________________________________________ indiana-discuss mailing list indiana-discuss@opensolaris.org http://mail.opensolaris.org/mailman/listinfo/indiana-discuss
