Hi,
I came across this medium sized tree in gandhi nagar, Adyar, Chennai
on the 15th and am not able to identify it. There were 3 trees of the
same kind. I am posting the leaves only - although the leaves seem to
have a crinkly appearance they were not rough to touch like the leaves
of the Cordia.
Sorry the picture got left out last time...

Hi,
I saw the picture of the pod of Indian cork taken by Mr. Garg on the
internet. As I have never seen a pod of this tree could someone give me an
idea of its size? How long are the pods and how many seeds does each pod
contain? Are they produced in clusters like the flowers?

Thanks for the link...
There is no mention of the length of the pods, though, would you have any
idea?

Another friend of mine who is good with tree identification suggested that
it could be Kleihovia hospita (guest tree) - of the Malvacea family. Is that
a possibility?

Hi,
Many of the Pongam trees on Indira Nagar 1st Avenue (Adyar, Chennai) are
flowering now and with yesterday's cyclonic winds one tree seems to have
disgorged all its seeds as well.
I thought Pongam flowering season was March to June?
Has anyone else observed this?

Hi,
What are the obvious (for identification) differences between *Parkia
biglandulosa* and *Enterelobium cyclocarpum*, that is apart from the glands
at the (petiole?) of the compound leaf. Often the trees are so tall that it
is difficult to get hold of the leaves.. We have both these trees on the
Are *Thespesia populnea* and *Hibiscus tileaceus* related? How?

Hi,
Thanks for that explanation. I would also like to know if there is any
difference in terms of bark/trunk?
Are both sets of leaves bipinnately compound?

Sorry, one more question are rubra and alba one and the same - somehow I
have been associating rubra with red and alba with white (wherever I have
come across these names)

Hi,
I was walking in the Kalakshetra campus (Chennai) when I came across this
tree that seems so much like Prosopis cineraria in all aspects - leaves,
flower, trunk but the pods don't seem to look like those I have seen
pictures of in my google search. This tree had pods that were more
flattened t
Hi,
As far I as understand this, Vanni does not refer to Prosopis juliflora, but
is a name for P. cineraria /spicigera.
The pods on the tree in Kalakshetra were of lesser length and flatter.
