Thanks Surajit for this further exploration. This plant is very commonly cultivated in Delhi and often runs wild and may be found on garbage dumps or waste places. When I came to Delhi in 1975, some one introduced this plant to me as Viguieria helianthoides, and this went on for many years till a few years back when I identified it as Helianthus debilis. It is good that you mentioned subspecies cucumerifolius, and after seeing key in eflora of N. America, I realised that plant grown in Delhi is actually this one only. Thanks once again for update.
