The leaves of *Grewia tenax* can be as large as 3 inches (long & wide) if
the plant is watered frequently. Perhaps this plant is receiving a generous
amount of moisture/water from a nearby source.

This plant thrives in the dry conditions of Kachchh where it is quite
common. The leaves are polymorphic; the variation in both the size and the
shape has been documented in detail by the great botanist Jayakrishna
Indraji in his Vanaspati Sastra (published in 1910).
