I am just back from a beleaguered trip to west Sikkim. Rain, white out and earthquake were not the only deterents. I was sent back to fetch a researcher's permit from Gangtok and I knew I wouldn't have got it since I am an amateur. I was termed as a 'researcher' in the field. This should be an eye opener for many of us who venture out to wild areas without any authentication. Good I did not lead others into this disappointment. Nevertheless I enjoyed fabulous birding as I wielded my binoculars. Regards
