Yes, they are indeed ferns, being juvenile they are not fertile yet as young Osmunda is one of the ferns that doesn't become fertile until fully mature (many others can be even when very small). Assuming it is peninsular India (you must obviously mention the State at least!) it is juvenile O. hilsenbergii (= O. acuta). IC 1: 92 (2016). Chris Fraser-Jenkins.
