The Not working data have no fields. Your line protocol has a measurement name and a tag set and a timestamp, but no field set. That's not valid line protocol. You must have at least one key value pair, separated from the measurement+tagset and the timestamp by whitespace. Splunk_Index_Influx,Max

So you want the sum of the mean? First write a continuous query to calculate the MEAN, as in my prior query, and write it back to a new measurement. Then you can query that measurement for the sum. E.g. CREATE CONTIN

Points that are in the WAL but haven't yet been flushed to disk should still be queryable. It sounds like you are getting a partial return, including points later than the ones that are missing, so it's likely not a querying after now() issue. Just in case, take a look at https://docs.influxdata.co
