Strange thing is that around a week ago when I first configured Deadman I seem
to recall having seen email alerts reporting the switch of state to OK. I think
I was not yet specifying specific email alerting formats at the time, but I was
using the default from the main configuration file?

Okay, so I checked this again. Indeed consistently 30s after every DEAD event
all counters in the "kapacitor show " command reset to 0.
I just saw what I believe should have been a ALIVE event. Meaning the DEAD
event preceded a count as seen on my 1s interval graph (grafana), within the
noted 3
