As far as I know the server uses GMT. You can specify your local timezone (something
like GMT+2).
The server will add/substract the required offset. When accessing the server via the
same mechanism there should be no changing of the file dates!

The manual does say that there is also a CVS_USER variable. As it is, $USER
actually does contain the login userid, which is what I wanted... (this is
with Corey's patch admittedly). So don't worry about this.

According to the Cederqvist (C.12), there is an internal variable CVS_USER
that contains the userid as login by the user.
But when I use this in a loginfo script I get this message:
cvs server: loginfo:29: no such internal variable $CVS_USER

I read the documentation shipped with cvs which gives a short description
about all commands but no information about what to do with the
entire set of response lines (as an example).
