Hi Larry,
Thanks for the reply. I've been meaning to get back to this issue but
have been weighed down with other concerns. Anyway ...
For my problem/setup, having rtag is appreciated. Pity there isn't a
'rcommit'! I still can't see why not. Sometimes people want to think

Hi Paul, (and Greg),
Thanks for your comments. The main idea was to wrap CVS in another layer of
script which would invisibly filter out the tag information. I agree that it
would be messy to use tags in the long run.
I think your suggestion sounds like a good one of adding info to RCS works,

In that case, take a look at the -o and -u options that can be used
in the modules database. These features are pretty gunky but they might
fill the bill by allowing you to register programs to execute during
checkout and update. The downside is that they drop cookies in your
sandbox that can't

I have installed a CVS server on a RedHat 6.1 and it works properly.

Thanks for pointing out what I missed - that prior to replacing HE
Hi Marian,
Just remove all the files in the module and don't use it anymore.
The only way to remove modules permanently is to remove their directory
from the filesystem ( which you probably don't have access on
SourceForge to do ).

That's not a repository, it's a directory in the repository. You need to delete
the directory.

What is your alternative? If you don't have any other approach, then DO IT!

I've installed CVS as part of the normal RH7.1 install several times. No
problems, ever. I've also installed CVS as an afterthough. No problems,
again.

Hi everyone -
Is it possible to control permissions at the branch level in CVS? I would
like to create a branch and then limit the people allowed to make changes
on the branch, but I can't see an easy (or even a difficult) way to do this...
Thanks

Just a spammer tool.
You don't have to buy a program to do that. There are free ones too.
Or just cross post in message

First off, I should thank everyone who's taken the trouble to discuss

length is not because I'm trying to do something childish like "win an
argument". I really am simply concerned that maybe there's a major
flaw in my approach,

A loaded question on this list.
A commitinfo script should be able to get you there - the branch information
is available to it through "cvs -n stat", after that it is checking which
user is trying to commit through the $USER variable and figuring out whether
he has the permission to do so.
