I have a set of new files that exist in side branch BranchA
and never in the main trunk.
I want to create a version in my build branch BranchB.
Is it possible to do so without merging from BranchA to the
main trunk and creating BranchB off that main trunk version?
The main trunk is where all the
We are using CVS 1.11.1p1 in a Solaris 2.8 environment

I have noticed that the "cvs status" command on various
clients for the Repository revision value, does not show
the latest checked in revision. This even days after the

I am looking for information as to CVS server best practices.
By this I am suggesting:

And how should the status of the files within one's

I am wondering if CVS has the concept of lazy
branching, i.e. branching only on a per-need

Say I have a directory tree corresponding to a module

Can this be done, or do I have to branch the entire
module?
Thanks.

I have read about the files:

rcsinfo
editinfo
commitinfo
Can I modify taginfo to prevent deletion of branch tags
and moving of tags (la

I prefer to "grep" archives rather than use a search

Thank you.
