"cvs rlog" doesn't distinguish tags from branch. They both are referred
as symbolic names. I'd use "cvs status -v" for this purpose.

I have the same problem. The cvs update works fine though. Maybe
downgrade WinCVS helps.If you upgrade cvs1.12 on server side, it will be
worse - "cvs update" will also hang up.

After I upgraded my CVS server to 1.12, my WinCVS doesn't work any more.
More specifically, every cvs operation such as update just hangs up
there and never ends. I have to click on "stop" icon to stop the
