I have files in a CVS repository under the
directory "cvsroot/sc/etc". If I run the command "cvs checkout sc/etc" the
files get placed in the current directrory, in the *same* directory structure
(i.e. "sc/etc/"). How can I place those files in different directory
strructure, (e.g "etc").

Don't. Log in, by hand, once, as the user the batch file will run as,
and don't log out. Logging in to CVS does not create any kind of a
connection, it just remembers the password so you do

It means the file was updated by sending a patch instead of sending the
whole file.

"P file" means, the server sends or will send (*) a patch for file.

this is probably a fairly easy question.
When you do an update using winCVS what does the "p "
message mean that come up in blue text in the status window. I guess
it means preserved but I can't confirm it.
Cheers for any help
