p
hehehe ... in the process of writing this email I fixed the problem!
The error:
Sep 14 16:02:15 server deliver[5186]: connect(/var/tmp/imap/configdir/socket/lmtp)
failed: Connection refused
shows that it is trying to connect to lmtp ... which doesn't exist. I
linked lmtp -> imap and stuff started working.
This is sort of strange, but whatever.
Thanks Scott.

Sep 14 15:58 imap
so there is indeed no lmtp socket.
How do I create this socket?
Thanks,
Brendan
ut I don't know
which modules to use, so if someone could post theirs or point me in a
good direction, it would be very helpful.
Thanks.

i stupidly did the following:
cyradm -user cyrus localhost
localhost> cm user1
rather than
localhost> cm user.user1
ls $partition-default:
user1 stage. user
cyrus is my administrative account.
localhost> dm user1
deletemailbox: Permission denied
localhost> sam user1 cyrus all
setaclmailbox
/db and I didn't see
instructions to do so in the docs (but I could have missed something, I
suppose).
Thanks.

Which user should own the relevant cyrus binaries, like deliver?
Root, or cyrus?
Thanks,
Brendan
I use 143 and it gives me the same error.
-p 220 says use port 220, and 220 seems to be imap3.
But 143 gives me the same behaviour.
Thanks,
Brendan

(I tried setting the port/service name in inetd.conf to imap2 and
imap3 in turn but both gave the same error.)
Anyone know what's up?
Thanx.
Brendan
I conpiled cyrus and have been trying to configure it.
I edited all the appropriate files, /etc/services, /etc/inetd.conf,
master.cf and main.cf for postfix, added the user, etc.
When I try:
killall -HUP inetd
animul:/etc# /packages/cyrus-imapd/bin/imtest -m login -p imap localhost
I get:
co
the function body of
SSL_library_init(), which is declared in ssl.h (in the openssl
hierarchy). I haven't found it either, but I think I am probably
doing something else wrong.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

ersions of openssl, and this doesn't help.
