Thanks. That appears to work (I set up a test account and made it
use LMTP to the new server via a line in Postfix's "transport" map).
Not surprisingly, I had to add a lin

I currently have both Postfix (2.3.5) and Cyrus (2.3.9) running on
a single server. Postfix does its thing (including spam and virus
filtering) and then invokes Cyrus's "deliver" program to deliver
messages.
I would like to move my Cyrus onto a separate system from my Postfix.
The reason is becau

Hi,
solved: It was the subdomain system that does not seem to work correctly in
SuSE 10.0. Use Yast -> AppArmor -> Update Profile Wizard several times.
It seems that 10.0 basic does not do everything automagically!

Hi,
I am trying to install postfix and cyrus on SuSE 10.0 and ran into a problem.
Without cyrus postfix does deliver the mail directly to the user postbos. no
problem. No I turn cyrus delivery on:
/etc/postfix/main.cf:
mailbox_transport = lmtp:unix:/var/lib/imap/socket/lmtp
and
/etc/cyrus.conf
I have searched the web and checked in the mailman forums and no one
seems to have an answer.
I have postfix and cyrus setup and working. I want to add mailman to
this setup. I was trying to do it without making a new virtual domain.
My main domain is mutantegg.com, I just want the mail man
"mailbox_transport" entry in main.cf reflects this.
So, where is postfix getting the above path from?
i checked master.cf and my trnasport file and there is no entry like that.
The confusion here is that there is both a Cyrus and Postfix "master"
process. The one in your logs above

for cyrus to work with postfix.

try using lmtp as it incurs less overhead than using deliver. In your main.cf
use something like:
mailbox_transport = lmtp:unix:/var/imap/socket/lmtp
or
virtual_transport = lmtp:unix:/var/imap/socket/lmtp
you'll need to read up on the postfix site to determine ex

If you are running RedHat Linux, one thing to keep in mind is that
RedHat run Postfix in a chroot jail. So in yout cyrus.conf you need

So it envokes the cyrus deliver program.
I see how that works.

Hello and Thanks for your reply.
Frankly I would stay away from LMTP over TCP unless you really want
annother port to firewall on you machine. I always try and keep it simple.
For now, im going to use UNIX domain sockets. I figure, since both postfix
and cyrus are on the same machine, only seems

Hello everyone.
Wanted to get some feedback from people running cyrus and postfix.
I've been able to get the two to work together, but I had a question on the
following. (Note, I read the LMTP_README provided with postfix to find more
info)
I noticed that you can have two different op

In my main.cf I use mailbox_transport = cyrus and its working very well.
I installed cyrus-imapd-2.0.16_2 and postfix-20020107 in a FreeBSD 4.5 box.
Hope it helps !

Cyrus and Postfix are communicating with an lmtp pipe.
Any ideas?

For those who do have both Postfix and Cyrus, here are the init scripts for
RedHat that use. There are probably better ways of doing this, but I have
been using these for about 4 months now with no problems. That does of
course not mean that there aren't any :-)
