Looking for cyrus on machine was interesting as almost all of the files
would not come up with a 'locate' command. And still do not. I am
manually going through all the doc folders and etc and sys folders

As long as you're adding to the list clutter, at least you could be
helpful and point out that it looks like the virus came from T-Base
Communications. No posts to this

Your message is getting out to the list. Do the world
a favor and turn off your HTML copy of the message. We
really don't need to see the same text spewed forth
inside of all the html tags.

I got Cyrus set up I think correctly (turned out to be a permissions
problem) sent some test emails, but I get this error :
hostname sendmail [2459] : gBN30mXo2458 SYSERR (root) collect Cannot
write ./dfg3N3UnXo2462 (bfcommit, uid = 0) : Permission denied
Is this likely to be a simple sendamail

Hi Daniel,
It sounds like the pwcheck server isn't set up correctly. If you
are using a newer version of Cyrus, you'll probably want to use
saslauthd; I found it more flexible and easier to configure. I can't
remember where the documentation was that I used, but it was pretty

I know I'm replying to my own message, but that isn't as dumb as the
cause of the problem I had - one of them anyway.
Notice the master process cannot create the sieve listener or the
lmtpunix listener? Well, of course not. I gave it a bogus path in
the cyrus.conf!

Hello everyone
I have a challenging situation here at work: Our systems administrator has
left with a lot of important knowledge, among other things administrating
the cyrus imap server.
Unlucky me has to backward engineer everything. I figured out some things,
