I ended up using perdition as sort of TLS upgrade proxy. Works fine and
removes the need for a second imapd.conf that I would need to keep in sync.

I can only confirm that the following is working in my case:

in that no incoming mail is being filtered into destination folders
according to the filter rules.
The filter file is basically the same as I am using on another
cyrus installation where it works fine. The filter can also be
found under /var/lib/imap

binary. Only the sendmail config in imapd.conf may not point to it.

The rule with user sieve scripts is that they may only act on that
user's mailboxes, not on shared mailboxes which one is subscribed to.
