Thanks a bunch to all who contributed to the issue! (Sorry for late reply, can only work a little in the evening on this.) The problem remains unsolved. Facts are - Win TB *does* use SQUAT index as per log file - messages returned are the same, but speed differs considerably - WinXP has firewall

Ole, I've noticed that Thunderbird can often slow down on larger imap accounts or certain folders with a large number of messages. One thing I have done is to clear out the files in C:\Documents and Settings\\Application Data\Thunderbird\Profiles\\ImapMail This should not cause loss of messa

Hello, traced the packets with Ethereal and it gives some valuable hints as to where the problem lies. (Attachments contain fragments from start of searches, 192.168.16.23 is Cyrus server.) Looks like search from Windows client requires lengthy access rights clarification for each mail folder
