Gmane used to provide search to which I became highly addicted ;-)

open-network-stream: search.gmane.org/80 Name or service not known
... for over a year :-(
Also, the gmane blog http://home.gmane.org has not been updated for over

So, with gmane search apparently down, is there an alternate way to
search the gnus mailing lists?

So... I have many marks on a bunch of gmane newsgroups. Is there a way
to transfer those marks to a maildir containing those same messages?

3) kill 'C-x k' the '*Summary...' buffer
4) open '=' the same group again
I don't see the "tick" '!' I just made. Shouldn't I?
Or is there some other step I need save my "tic

Here is what happens:
1) I tick '!' article A in a gmane summary buffer
2) I go to the Group Buffer and save 's'
3) I exit and reopen emacs
