At the AV Coop Vendor Visit last week we saw the new Dell Latitude 2100 netbook that was specifically designed for K12 usage. Please see this url for details

Watch the video on the page, specifically pay attention to the 'Network Activity Light' placement on the display, and the charging cart.

The keyboard is larger than most netbooks I have tested (HP and Wind) 90% full size. It was easy to type and I had no problem pressing the correct keys. The outside case is about 1/4 inch rubber that can be 3D etched with the districts name/logo and comes in 5 colors.

The cart will charge up to 24 netbooks. There are no cables to connect, just slide the netbook into the bay to connect to charger and data. All netbooks in the cart are Wake on Lan supported so updates can be applied to all netbooks while they are docked in the cart. My understanding is that Dell also created or bundled classroom management software with these netbooks that will aid both teachers and techs in a 1-to-1 deployment.

Cost is between $400-$600 depending on options such as Touch Screen, Web Cam, Antibacterial keyboard, HD, etc.
