Here is the summation of the requirements for the Technology Requirements in respect to: a)site visits and b)reporting to the state (via the BEDS document) for the purposes of reporting out for NCLB requirements. Please let me know if you have additional questions and concerns.
Essentially, there are four points you need to cover for the site visit, and only two of those points are necessary for reporting out to the state. First, you need a definition of Technology Literacy. I believe there is a place for that definition within the school's CSIP and the technology plan therein. Next, you need to show the instrument you have used to measure the technology proficiency of your eighth graders, and that should simply be on file, along with all the other volumes of documentation that you all are preparing for the site visit. As long as it is in one of the files, easily labeled and quick to find, that is all the official it has to be. Finally, you need to report how many eighth graders you have, and how many of them have measured proficient according to your test/survey instrument. That information will need to be reported on the BEDS report next spring, and that is ALL that needs to be done to meet requirements, both state and federal, as well as that is all you need to prepare for the site visit. By the way, you get to determine the definition of proficient for your instrument, too. We are not a bunch of retiring file clerks who specialize in busy work. We are highly educated professionals who operate and manage large, high-tech institutions that serve a wide diversity of people in a wide diversity of very important ways. We do this with minimal resources and minimal respect. We are creative, resourceful, and very productive." ~ Will Manley.
