A new report from the Emerging Technologies Committee (ETC) of theConsortium for School Networking (CoSN), entitled "A Guide to WirelessLANs in K-12 Schools," examines the challenges, options and lessonslearned from the implementation of wireless LAN technologies in the K-12environment. The goal of the document is to provide a practical roadmap for CTOs, CIOs, school administrators, and technology coordinatorsto plan for wireless implementation, although it has applicability to other educational environments. Critical issues addressed include standards and compatibility, planning and implementation, security, and total cost of ownership (TCO).
