We wanted to do the same thing, but publisher was a show stopper for us since
we have hundreds of publisher files on the network. There are open source
publishing apps that are like publisher, but there is nothing that will open a
Microsoft publisher file for editing. We even looked for utilities to convert
existing files and nothing worked. If you don't need to open existing
publisher files, only create new ones, Scribus is prob. the most popular open
source publishing software.

Subject: [info-tech] Open Office [Spam score:10%]

We are planning on converting to Open Office on any new computer that we are
getting, but our teachers are worried because it does not offer a program
like Microsoft Office Publisher. They use it only for brochures but is
there any substitute for that? I know you can make them in Writer but would
that be the best solution.

Thanks
