We do nothing in our cases here in Fort Dodge, until it becomes a long-term situation. We don't provide access to the computer or the network. We have, on special occasions, accommodated some subs depending on situation and classes they were covering, but it doesn't happen very often. We have resumed those discussions, but have not come to a consensus on what to do. We have had those situations as you mentioned, and the staff members accounts are disabled and changed after a little chat with them. They know that is not acceptable and they are breaking board policy.

However, when a sub needs to come in for a teacher, previously, that sub has been given the password for the teacher to use. However, this of course violates the policies, and because that sub would be able to access the email for that teacher, they are not comfortable with this. The options that I have come up with, including creating a special drop folder accessible by subs where teachers could drop their assignments only work if the teacher knows in advance that they will be gone. How do other districts handle these situations?
