Actually I just had another thought about this.
Is it unreasonable to expect that the extension developer knows which versions
or operating systems their extension works with? Why not make sure the
developer shares that when the extension is released to the community?

No no. You said it right. I was just wondering if we could promote inkscape
extensions more widely and more clearly. I use inkscape since 2007 but just
recently understood how to use and enable some of the extensions... hehe.
