Ok I downloaded from Blastwave and I've had no problems installing on the
laptop. Totally weird problem.

What exactly do you consider screwed up? I've
probably done 50 installs of various incarnations
of OpenSolaris 2008.05 and the preceding release
candidates. Very few failed, and of those that did,
they were issues with the release candidates that
were addressed before release.

Please see my post directly under this one. I used 2 different sets of media
and actually had the live cd boot fine off a Dell Precision T3400.
The problem on the laptop had to do with the crypto-subsystem dying and then it
hangs. My previous post has all the error messages.

sxde (which is far better in my opinion.) Why the super high memory
