Just out of interest, has anyone within the Qt community or company considered
Vulkan?
It looks to me as though the future of low level graphics APIs is not OpenGL or
Direct3D or Metal.
It's Vulkan.

If you have a sample application, I can compile for Mac windows and Linux and
try it out.

Ok, this is all very confusing for me. I am just starting out with Qt and am
using the LGPL edition.
What are my limitations with that? It costs me nothing but do I have to
distribute my source code along with the app and am I missing out on features
and/or the ability to sell my app on iOS or

It's well known that iOS does not support executable memory which means that
any scripting language would not be able to use a JIT compiler.
Given this, wouldn't it mean that Qt's JavaScript implementation would run like
a one legged dog on this platform and therefore be practically unusable?

The problem even with this extension for the Indie Program is that it *only*
allows you to use Qt to develop *mobile* apps. The appeal of Qt is its
cross-platform ability but if you are using it *just* for mobiles then you
will get a better result with a framework designed specifically for mobiles
e that discover Qt too late to buy into Indie.

My very first attempt at getting something up and running with Qt involved
trying to display Google Maps in a WebView with Qt 5.1 but it doesn't work.
The web browser component opens up but displays nothing. It seems to be an
issue with HTTPS.

Now that I have WebView successfully displaying Google Maps in Qt 5.1 I
thought I would share my first impressions.
For a start, it seems to be way slower than Firefox or any other standard
browser on this machine. When I open Google Maps in Firefox, the entire page
