Hi,
I asked a question about the missing GTK theme a few months ago. I was
informed that it was no longer provided within Qt and was available
using the qtstyleplugins package. However, qtstyleplugins only provides
a style called "gtk2" and this is not compatible (I believe) with the

Your information was wrong.

Not really sure how that helps Thiago? If you know it's incorrect,
would it not be more beneficial to provide the correct information?
Whats a little strange, is it was yourself that informed me at the time
(unless I have misunderstood what you've written (see below)):

Sure.
The Gtk3 style and platform theme is still part of Qt. It's in qtbase.

Thiago,
Could you advise how I use the style?

The platform theme should be automatically enabled if you're using a GTK-based
desktop environment. Please run qtdiag and see what it says about "Theme"
(which I've just fix
Thiago,
I believe the platform theme is being enabled. However, it doesn't look
like the style is. The output for the theme section from qtdiag is:
Theme:
Available: gtk3,gnome,generic
Styles : fusion,windows
Icon theme : Adwaita, from /usr/share/icons,/usr/share/pixmaps

There's no gtk3 style.

I'm going around in circles then Sergio.
My initial query was:
"So I guess my question is, will a GTK style that is compatible with the
default GTK3 platform theme be re-introduced into a future version of Qt
such that applications run in Ubuntu Gnome with a native look and feel?

No, you're not. I'm the one who got confused. There's a platform theme and a
widget style. They're not the same thing.

Hi Thiago,
Thanks for the information.
Could you please confirm I've understood it correctly:
1. There's currently no way to achieve a native look and feel using
Qt5.8 in Ubuntu Unity or Gnome (i.e. GTK3 platform theme and style) with
or without qtstyleplugins.
2. This is something that wil

Hi Thiago,
As a worse case, I'd be happy to use the gtk2 style. However, as I
stated in my original post, this doesn't appear to be compatible with
the gtk3 platform theme. This means I'd have to use the gtk2 platform
theme and that doesn't give a native look and feel in the latest
versions o

That's Qt's fault, for requiring basically that such plugins use private API
that is not kept stable across versions

I don't think they can avoid it. The entire QPA plugin API is private.
This you can complain to Qt developers.

Thanks Thiago.
That looks like it solves the problem.
