The Fifth Annual Conference of the Centre for the Study of Global
Ethics focuses specifically on the theme of Bodies and Embodiment
across disciplines, including politics, philosophy, law and ethics. 

We welcome abstract submissions addressing this theme, including, but
not limited to, the following sub-themes:

- The relevance of embodiment to theories of justice
- The ethics, regulation and governance of the body, including,
  torture, punishment, body part sale and access to abortion
- The commodification, objectification and sexualisation of the body
- Marginalised and vulnerable bodies, including issues related to
  race, trans-identity, class, disability, illness, age and pregnancy
- The relationship between the body and the self
- Violation of the body, sexual harassment and cultures of
  entitlement, including the rise of #metoo
- The limits of consent in regulating access to bodies
- Practices of body modification, transformation, enhancement and
  adornment
- The embodied experience of humans being dependent on and living in
  the natural environment
- The challenge of embodiment to abstract theory

In addition to papers addressing the conference’s central theme and
subthemes, we welcome abstract submissions on a wide range of topics
within global ethics from faculty and graduate students in global and
practical ethics, and legal, social and political philosophy. Areas
of research may include:

- Gender justice
- Global distributive justice
- Justice and race
- Just war theory
- Humanitarian ethics
- Climate change and environmental sustainability
- Global bioethics

Submission Guidelines

To propose a paper (suitable for presentation in 15 minutes), please
send the following two documents (doc or pdf) to:
globalethicseve...@contacts.bham.ac.uk

- A document containing title, abstract (500 words max.), 3-5
  keywords, as well as author information (name, position,
  affiliation, contact details, and short biography)
- A document, anonymised for blind review, containing only title,
  abstract (500 words max.), and 3-5 keywords

Submission deadline: 1 February 2019.
We aim to let you know the outcome of the blind review by 1 March
2019.
