Conference Announcement Theme: Equality in Immigration Type: Virtual Workshop Institution: New York University Location: Online Date: 17. & 19.5.2021 __________________________________________________ The workshop "Equality in Immigration" will explore what realizing equality demands in the realm of immigration. The questions discussed will include: what is the connection between immigration policy and racial inequality? Under what circumstances might migration enhance inequality? Can the value of equality explain the right to emigrate? What might it mean to relate to immigrants as equals? How might insights from Marxism and political liberalism be fruitfully brought to bear on migration ethics? Does equality require that noncitizens be given voting rights? The workshop will feature a mix of presentations and pre-read papers and will take place over two nonconsecutive days. The schedule for the workshop is below (all times Central European Summer Time).
