Job Announcement Type: Professor in Global Philosophy Institution: School of History, Religions and Philosophies, SOAS University of London Location: London (United Kingdom) Date: from September 2022 Deadline: 15.3.2022 __________________________________________________ The School of History, Religions & Philosophies seeks to appoint a Senior Lecturer/Professor in World Philosophies starting in September 2022. SOAS has been one of the first institutions in the world to develop a Philosophy programme that showcases the richness of philosophical and intellectual traditions in a global perspective. We seek to build on the success of the BA World Philosophies by developing a PGT programme and research centre to establish our emerging reputation as a world-leading centre for decolonised Philosophy. We are looking for an exceptional candidate who is able to contribute to the three intellectual principles upon which our approach to Philosophy is founded — decolonial critiques and reimagining of Philosophy as a global discipline; dialogic and critical-comparative analyses between global intellectual traditions; specialism in specific non-western philosophical traditions — and to help us realise an ambitious research agenda which will lead contemporary debates regarding the nature and purpose of Philosophy in the contemporary world. About you: The successful applicant will work closely and collegially with the core teaching team and the Subject Head for Religions and Philosophies, Dr Sîan Hawthorne, to facilitate and enhance the delivery of a well-organised and well-executed curriculum at both UG and PGT levels. The selected candidate will lead on designing a postgraduate pathway and research agenda and will work with the programme team members to establish a research centre in World/Global Philosophy. Applicants should hold a PhD degree in Philosophy or adjacent disciplines. They will have expertise in Indian Philosophy covering both classical and modern debates as well as in the approaches of continental philosophy particularly inasmuch as these are in conversation with postcolonial and decolonial theory. We seek a candidate with a demonstrable commitment to decolonisation (evidenced by teaching and research experience). Experience in and dedication to high-quality classroom teaching at both the UG and PG levels is essential, as are organisational and communication skills. Further, we are looking for an individual with a track record in knowledge exchange, public-facing engagement, and widening participation. How to Apply: Closing date: 15th March 2022 Interviews to be held in April 2022 If you would like an informal conversation about the role, please email: ah...@soas.ac.uk If you have any questions or require any assistance with regard to the application process, please contact: hr-recruitm...@soas.ac.uk Further information: https://www.jobs.ac.uk/job/CNC435/open-rank-senior-lecturer-professor-in-global-philosophy __________________________________________________ InterPhil List Administration: https://interphil.polylog.org InterPhil List Archive: https://www.mail-archive.com/interphil@list.polylog.org/ __________________________________________________
