I have a US$40 one, handheld variety. I have not used external microphones or

are actually MP3 files, but with a changed file extension. You don't have
to "convert" the files at all; simply rename them to .MP3 and they will

I'd check this out at Iriver. Their initial versions of the I-7xx and I-8xx
didn't appear as normal flash drives to Windows and didn't directly use mp3
& wma files - they had a proprietary format. That has all been changed in
the newer versions of their firmware which are downloadable from iRive

firmware, but that update converts to Windoz Media Play which is not as

With the high solar activity noted last night I was surprised to find strong
hets on almost every channel from low MW to about 1400 kHz this morning,
with several strong hets above that. I turned the radio on at 1443 utc, and
had poor audio immediately, suggesting I should have waked up a little

774 JOUB Japan in with weak signal at 1029 ut, fair signal by 1117 ut.
