a better chance. It will be my first Australian from this location on MW. I
remember back in 1980 sitting in a one bedroom apartment in Albany, CA with a
NRC box loop and hearing many DUswith the old HQ 180.

I got confused reading the 2007 WRTH, two of the Australian stations looked
like that were listed under 1110 kHz, right below the Hawaiian station. (KAOI)
Chuck & James listened to the recording and could recognize a few words.

So far, Im leaning towards the Kaito KA-1102 unit as it has almost
everything I need in terms of features, AM, FM and SW in different tuning
steps.. but I'm going to wait a little while for other opnions before I make
my choice

Both station are indeed on 1116. 3AK used to be on 1503 some years back
where they were common. Since moving to 1116, I have not heard them. But
4BC is a powerhouse there directional to the NE. Probably the reason I
have not heard 3AK. JJ Commercial stations are also common on 1116.

Thanks for the information. WRTH 2007 had 4BC & 6MM near the 1110 frequency
catogory right below KAOI Hawaii. Chuck was able to make out a fews words, but
no IDs. Going to set up the SW Ewe this morning and with the A index high,
maybe it will come in? Also had the filter at 2.4 kH

Here in Alberta reception improved over yesterday, moving up from
dreadful to merely poor. No audio noted today. More carriers noted
than yesterday, but again apparently mostly DU. A lot were very weak
and would have escaped attention except that the domestics were also
very weak this morn
FWIW, I agree with both Chuck and Dave. For FM signals, the capture effect
will only demodulate the strongest signal on a particular frequency. You may
have to orient your antenna to tune in the strongest signal though.
