What could I be hearing on 1610 here in Watkinsville, GA? I was under
the impression no one was on 1610 anymore. Our local emergency station is
off the air and I'm hearing something there. Any ideas?

I was kinda surprised last night around 0230 to 0300 UTC (9:30-10:00pm
CDT) to discover a few weak hets from 891, 999, and 1521. The 1521 het
was loudest. There was also a very weak carrier detectable on 1134. And
this was just on the Sony 7600GR.

Don,
I would think if she was away from electrical noise, KNBR should come in
fine. Here on the Oregon coast it is very strong after dark, hard to get

You are not incorrect Marty. They are on KNBR-1050 (otherwise known as KTCT)
when KNBR-680 is carrying either the 49ers or Giants games when they are on at
the same time. Maybe the way the
two teams play/played this year they'll put the Giants on 1050 next season.

about endless line noise
Listened from 1135-1258 ut. Conditions were not was good as yesterday. A few
less carriers heard this morning. Maybe if the A-index can remain low for a

As others have mentioned, KNBR comes in quite nicely around here. I
still remember a time (albeit in the 1970s) when I watched a

KAZ,
Another question would be Why bother with HD on AM anyway? FM has its
advantages, sub channels, etc, but why even bother with AM?
