Why don't people here consider more the third alternative for the transition
period: using both the conventional and SDR rx? SDR-IQ with Spectravue is
relatively cheap (and takes minimum space on the desk!), so one can still
keep also the conventional receiver. Spectravue is admittedly (still)

My first morning at the beverage site this fall yielded many carriers,
and some audio. The big Japanese stations were good on 828 (the best),
774, 693, 594 (through KOJM 610 IBOC buzz). Also noted occassional TP

KOHI 1600 is broadcasting the Rainer vs Clatskanie High School football game
tonight at 7:00 PM PDT. Those needing this station might give it a try.
Sunset tonight at St. Helens is at 6:44 PM PDT. Will be interesting to see how

This morning was by far the best "Chinese morning" since we returned
from the QCI DXpedirion. The Koreans were back in greater number, as
well and the JJs were doing fine. The lower band seemed to still be
better than the upper, but it was a fine morning all around.
The more noteworthy things:
Someone kindly volunteered to translate any UNID Chinese that we
heard at QCI and I managed to lose the message in the recent flurry.
I'd sure appreciate some help with a single UNID, if you could

Here it isn't that bad, but still several of my good frequencies have
been comprimised. "Any" avid foreign DXer is going to be complaining, if
it works or not.
In my case, I am hoping IBOC goes away, as I am still considering a move
in time if it doesn't.

to be extremely out of date. In several cases it was well over 6 months

usually, if the FCC AM or FMSilent List is out of date, it isnt the FCC's
fault.
If a station on their list is on the air, it's usually because they forgot
to notify the commission they signed back on.
And if a station is off and not on the list, well, they didnt notify the FCC
either.

dominating station on 1600. KRVI Blaine was in with an ID. No sign of KOHI,
the game is on the listen live at their web-site.

Interesting, Eric. I was briefly out of town and didn't catch this, but as
of 1930 PDT, no IBOC on KKDZ, which is running their typical 5kHz audio but
very low modulation -- much lower than usual.

I've also found discrepancies between the FCC silent
list and reality. It may be comforting to think of any
kind of list as "official" or "of record" (eg., "the
paper of record". Even lists which are very good are
subject to change and aren't always updated quickly,
or things fall through the crack
Listened around 1345UT this morning;Seemed good in spots (audio
on 1224 and 1269???) in the 15 minutes or so I could spend, though
lots of splash, and really, not too much audio. The northern Flag
generally did quite a bit better than the westerly Flag, not really sure why.

0415 first noted a carrier on 1215; no audio has developed yet, but
there are (weak) carriers on some of the usual suspects for this
season...1269, 1134, 1089, plus 531, 675, 702 and 972 and several
others that are barely there.

nites as of yet, spanning 748 - 792 Kilocycles. Charming. Perhaps they're
'achieving historical greatness' as one iBLOC imperatore recently declared.
The FCC silent list is updated the first Monday of every month..

Yes, here is one we have been waiting for, a Canadian being QRM'd by an
IBOCer. It would not have surprised me if CKOR 800 would not have had
QRM from when KGO was running IBOC. I am glad KGO has dropped it at
night, as tonight KGO is S9+50 DB!!

on a 40' tower), I did hear football play-by-play under KUBA and KVRI, with
