I agree completely - I logged a 500-watt non-directional beacon on 350 kHz from
British Columbia on my 2010 last night with a whopper signal. No special
antennas, no special filters, just lying in bed with the headphones on. Some of
my best BCB DX has also been heard with the 2010 barefoot. It

this week. On the 6th you had a poor morning, and it was great here.
Today, things were reversed, as your very good morning was a stark

Nick is absolutely right that the ICF-EX5 has a spurious reception
issue, which is not a major problem here in the moderate-RF environment of
Puyallup, WA, but may be for your own location.
To Nick's comments, I would also add that all of the enclosed
At 0500, 1215 still has the biggest carrier, maybe hints of audio,
but nothing exciting.
A surprising number of wispy carriers elsewhere, centering on the
middle of the band: 774, 855, 864, 945,954, 999, 1008 with a choppy
SAH, 1053, 1098, 1107, 1125, 1134, 1179, 1224, 1269 and 1494

Had a dial lamp go out in my Palstar R30CC radio recently. Rather than
simply put another lamp in, I decided to use LEDs.
I used three Radio Shack 276-320 white LEDs. 3.6v, 20ma. All I did was
push them into the existing Palstar grommets used to hold the three factory

MW has dropped off, 0300 had around 30 hets, 0400 down to 14. Only
1215 close to audio, rest generally weak..
Yet some good Eu signals on 160m, like DF2PY and others in the 0500-0600 area.
