Hi Dennis,
No rain here as yet, and the weatherman said the lightening is done for
the night, but the rain may hit here. I did hear crackling on the R8 for
a time tonight, apparently from the lightening in the valley. But I
heard flooding in areas and over 100 lightening strikes. That is

Good Evening:
Have a rare thunderstorm system heading this way. Just

I got up before 1200 UTC. It was still dark, but not much was in. I was

Hi Dennis,
Although some people may disagre, the transmitter mounted on top of
the tower would be illegal if it used any part of the tower as a ground
or if it had a lead in separate from the tower that connects to a ground
rod. This has been discussed to death on the part 15 mailing lists
I disagree Paul. I can pick up my home "talking house" transmitter about
1/2 mile away and I have heard some as far away as one mile, but I would
classify those as DX signals. Usually when someone gets out more than
that they have suped up the transmitter to exceed the regulations. One

Pete,
I'm not hearing anything on 1700 during the day, but I don't really
have an antenna that points at Tacoma right now. In a couple of

at Tacoma will letcha know.

Not true Bill, Part 15's can get out more then a 1/4 mile if you have good

Hi Nick,
I woke up early this morning about cx were really poor here. I did not
catch the audio from 1YA, but basically weak audio on 531 and a bunch of
hets (738, 639, etc.) KPUA-670 & KGU-760 were good though.

Hi John,
Thanks for your detailed DU audio and carrier reports. As read by
someone unenthusiastic about getting up at 0430 to chase DX, they were most
interesting.
Concerning 1YA-756 (New Zealand) having its best audio 5 minutes after
sunrise, the same thing happened last Sunda
Very poor today, no audio heard, only a few weak hets. LWBC also very poor.
Glad Ray Moore in Florida is on the IRCA list now. 882 has very strong
splatter here; plus rarely is any het heard on that channel.
