Paul,
What would keep either owner 1550 or 1600 to apply for 600 in Vancouver?
Would they have to be a Canadian citizen? Maybe someone who works there
may be?

That's true. However, the programming on KRPI-1550 targets Vancouver,
and apparently originates from Vancouver. While KRPI is owned by a
Washington state corporation, one of its two officers has a Canadian
address. It would be perfectly plausible for Canadians associated with

A foreign national can't own a station in the US.

What about dual citizenship? I know of Americans that have moved to
Canada that have both now as the US would not allow them to drop their
US citizenship. But again, I have never heard of a U.S. or Canadian
station moving across the border..

Bruce,
Do you know if both 1550 and 1600 have local signals in Vancouver day
night? I presume they would with their patterns. Both are decent down
here. 1600 I can receive 24/7 off the WNW EWE, 1550 generally only at
night, as their pattern is more directional, plus I have Vancouver WA on

Walt,
You get them local in Victoria day night, they must be as strong in
the Lower Mainland. Probably a lot of listeners. The Punjabi format
seems to be HUGE in Canada with three stations broadcasting in that
market alone.

And with good reason -
Thanks Scott for the explanation. So, it is not impossible the move to
600 from across the border, but unlikely from down here. Too many steps.
I see someone that has a station in the Lower Mainland to make an app,
or someone new.

Was monitoring 1370 with a black gospel station, and an ID popped up, WFDR,
Manchester, then back to more black gospel music. Nice signal for only 28
watts, with QSB and QRM from WGIV. [WM-TN]

I'm hearing a station playing country music (today's new hit
country) on 1060 tonight, presumably a satellite-fed daytimer on
late. No local content heard, and at 2300 EDT there was dead air
where the ID insert should've been. This is definitely not CKMX, and

Uh, Willis...
..How are you hearing WLON on 1060? With all of WLONs short comings,
including not powering down, I don't think being off frequency isn one of
them.
