Tonight, while listening to KIXI 880 Seattle, they are giving away HD
Radios and they said that soon you will be hearing a better KIXI. So it
looks like KIXI is going the same way. I think Bruce Portzer reported
that KIXI would be going IBOC. Interesting that KIXI was the test IBOC
station at an

It amazes me that Entercom would be that foolish with their money, since
they already have KIXI on HD2 on their 106.9 FM.
(KKNW-1150 is also retransmitted on an HD FM, something Entercom is fond
of doing.)
Considering that 880 already overloads everything here, this is gonna be
ugly.

Thanks Nick;
Appreciate the link to CWS.
Yup the RS/Uniden does not have a provision to disable the internal
antenna. However I used to have an amplified Sanserino loop that I used
with it and still got good results. Thanks for the info.

I didn't know Entercom owns 880 or 106.9. Neither is being shown as being

My mistake, wrote my message before I was truly awake.
But my point was that since they're already on HD from FM signals, this
doesn't seem to be the brightest way for the owners to use their money.

Hi all:
Thanks for your input on this! I recently tried out the non-rechargeable

will get the rechargeable version.

Rick,
They never really said that 880 was going to be HD in their promo, but
it sounded like that is what they meant, that KIXI is going to sound
better than ever and they are giving away free HD radios. I had no idea
they were already using HD2 on FM. But time will tell. Even here, it
wont be

are on the IRCA reprint disks, I believe. They are also available at

Do they say KJR 950? There is also KJR FM. I heard KJR was not going
IBOC as they were close to KOMO on Vashon.
KJR will be a real terror here as they have an ERP of 100 KW in this
direction.

Yes, it was KJR 950 that was specified. KJR-FM has been HD for quite
some time. I believe KJR KOMO are separated by about a couple of

I know KIXI has been promoting receiving them in HD, but I've only
heard it in reference to 106.9 HD-2 (KWRM, Bremerton).
If I remember correctly, KJR 950 is co-located with KGNW 820 Burien (on
Vashon, of course).

It will be interesting to see if they can get away with it with no QRM

It sort of makes sense from a business standpoint, seeing as KJR-AM is
the only one of Clear Channel's Seattle stations that's not already
using HD.
Speaking of KJR (sort of), there's a rumor going around town that KIRO

Scott,
Thanks for the info. Not a good sign if KJR KIXI both hit the IBOC
switch, especially for the Puget Sound DXers. KJR will be worse than
KIXI here, as they have their fiqure eight South-West lode aimed right

Bruce,
That would be a disappointment if KIRO changes to all sports. I would
rather have KOMO do it. KIRO has some good talk shows and I listen to
them often on the van radio. KIRO is the strongest Puget Sound AM signal
here, followed by KJR.
