I put up an Inverted L for 160M which appears to be working pretty well. I
worked a guy in Alaska with it last Monday with 100watts.
Tonight I decided to cruise the BCB band with it.
It is, at the moment, 0114 local and I am listening to KNBR 680 from here in
Boone, IA. This is the
Noted KKFN / 950 Denver is stunting with an endless loop of a couple
classic country songs and liners promoting an upcoming format swap to
Wide Open Country. Mentioned that the new format will include old
music, new music, and legends.

Listened from 1250-1331 utc. Many carriers (listed below). Heard the best
reception of an Australia station from this location this morning.
180 Russia, 1250 weak with man singing. Fair at 1308 with man in
Russian.
189 Russia, 1250 fair with man in
Listened from 1140-1255 utc and conditions were very poor with no audio and
only very weak carriers on 693, 774, 828 and 1566.

What kind of transmission/antenna setup do beacons like this use? I am,
obviosuly, very familiar with AM and FM but have never seen a LW/Beacon
transmission set up.

I will let others throw in their more vast experience here, but here is my
two cents.
Make sure you have an SSB receiver that is truly designed to still be
sensitive on the LW frequencies, fitted a narrow CW filter (500 hz or less
is great). Since you're only listening to one

I've used both the Wellbrook K9AY and most recently the Wellbrook
1530...blow quite a few of the fuses herealso blew something in the
antenna interface box on the 1530. Ordered a new 1530 last week and
will return the interface box on the old one for a swap. Then I'll be
using the two
