I don't think it's KWBY. I can hear the SS of KWBY, and it also just ID'd in
English at TOH and it's best on E/W wire. I can also listen to the het and
switch between my E/W and N/S longwires. The het drops in level noticeably
when I switch to E/W, which is KWBY's direction. I think it's

Since this is my last morning here for a bit thought I'd try one more
early morning.
Started at 1200 and not much was happening, with just so-so carriers on
the regular frequencies. Just as I was beginning to think staying in
bed would have been a wiser choice things started to improve.

I was cleaning out the basement awhile back and found a bunch of reel-
to-reel tapes and some logbooks from the early 70's.
Rather than throw them all away, I digitized the tapes and using the
logbooks am editing stuff into sound bytes.
The results [still in progress] can be found here:
Just to make things more confusing the het is strongest looping East/West

For the first half of the night, the most southerly BOG was fantastic, picking
up all the above stations. For the most part, the other BOGs had little or no
DU activity. Quite remarkable that the southerly BOG would have a strong DU

Hi all:
In case you run into the same problem, here is one I solved today.
I've been laboring for the past few weeks figuring out where the unearthly
screeching is coming from that has rendered my LF Engineering H-900 whip
unusable. I have it mounted on an unused satellite dish with a special
Kevin,
Glad to read that your H-900 is back in proper working order. My
H-800 works very well on long-wave and has even heard a few TP's
on MW. On rare mornings is sometimes out performs the NW ewe.
Will be interesting to see how many TP's you can heard from your
location. Seems like this
As expected after Hurricane Ike, the 530 station seems off the air. Only
noise heard so far...

Colin,
With CFAX running an ERP of 250 KW to the NW, no wonder they are weak
down here at 150 air miles. I think their CE told me once that they
have 30 wats in my direction. They are ok but are weak.
900 is better.

In a couple of hours, I'll be putting the package of 2009 Tower Site
Calendars in the mail to Bill Block for those who have ordered them for
convention pickup in Flagstaff.
Anyone else want one at the special club price of $15? (Regular price is
$18.)
E-mail me tonight if you're interested!
IRCA Crew,
I have several 1/4-inch DX tapes that I need to
dub into mp3 media.
Could anyone please help me!
I have several machines that handle most speeds...
And I am the engineer behind the fabulously successful
Ian McFarland series of CD's.
How can I help?

Colin Newell -
Just got back in the door, and remembered I had forgotten to e-mail you.
If you get this in time, please add me to the list. Thanks!

As reported by the majority of others, conditions were down here a
bit this morning, but with quite a few interesting ones... Many more

The FCC had a notice of inquiry on this topic many years ago (the late
70s or early 80s as I recall). In the end, they decided against it.
One of the points I remember them making in their decision was that the
prime candidates for 500kw operation were already ratings leaders, so

For the last several weeks what has most likely been heard on 530 has
been R.Enciclopedia, Havana.
