Did you wipe it back off? It sounds like you may have needed a little
lubrication, De-oxit is for tarnished (oxidized) components. You may want to go
to Rat Shack and buy some tuner cleaner and spray it in the control hopefully
displacing the De-oxit. Even WD-40 would be better. (Yes I know,
Yes, Walt - I'd be interested in knowing what your fix was also - I've heard
stories from both ends of the spectrum on that, even tghough I rarely use

Craig, I believe it was Bruce Conti who said his SDR was also significantly
better than the R8B for audio recovery from splits. That alone (since I need
real good selectivity here for TA and the continuing TP quest) should
convince me to get one.

I have come into a small inheritance from which I believe I can modernize my
DX-ability centered around the Perseus SDR. But I, too, would like some advice,
particularly on finding an adequate laptop computer through which to operate.
I see the Perseus as a device which can enable the BCB

Hi Kaz,
A very detailed performance comparison between the SDR-IQ and Perseus was
made by Marco Bruno IK1ODO last year. His article Digital Down Conversion
Receivers Compared was published in the March 2008 edition of RadCom
magazine. It focuses on the hardware side of the receiver and strong
Hi John,
Many of your questions have been answered on the Perseus SDR Yahoogroup. The
archives are an excellent reference that you can investigate. You don't have
to sign up with the group, as the messages can be searched without being a

Thanks, Guy, for the URL. I'll check it out. Having grown up in the Pacific
Northwest (Corvallis, Oregon), I envy y'all for the DX-peditions, etc. But I
married a Texas girl ... so, here I am.

Good Evening,
Just read on the Portland Radio PDX website that Oregon station KORC 820 is
listed by the FCC
as Licensed and Silent. Seems the Rocket Radio format last only a short time.

The application filed by KORC to go silent is over 45 days old, filed back
on April 1, 2009 when, I don't think, Rocket Radio had even launched on
KORC. I *think* the Portland Radio website may have outdated information
because a friend was just up there (IN WALDPORT) last weekend and heard them
Looking back on the KORC thread, they claim it's been silent since April
1st, but I could swear it was well after that at which my friend actually
heard KORC on the air, and I remember this because I started a new job April
1st.. and it wasnt till at least 10 days after that, which my friend told
I remember KTRB being a major pest on 860, but they are in the Bay Area? Isn't
this station licensed to Modesto? Just how large has the Bay Area become these
days? LOL.
