Despite heavy continuous static, S9+10 to +20, I had weak aural 783 het from
about 0530-0615 utc. Nothing anywhere else. On LW even stronger NDBs drowned
out by the strong static.
This morning had 891 DU poor/weak at 1200 utc, lots of other hets but not
close to audio. But at 1212 utc 738 was

Given that I heard nothing last night (not even a Spectran visible carrier),
you might have a chance at hearing audio under better conditions
I ordered the:
TECSUN PL-300wt DSP PLL WORLD TIME TRAVEL RADIO Item #120426252687

discount because I was such a wonderful customer which brings the
total cost, including shipping, down to $68.99. I bought it through

Hi,
This radio [Grundig G8] and all other models do not have a DSP chip. Let me
know if there's anything else I can help you with.

Thanks for doing the legwork on this! This pretty much crosses the G8 off

After this clarification from Eton, an extremely important question to answer
now becomes whether one should get the silver PL-300WT or the black one!

Hello All,
Although evidence indicates that a huge ordering boom has started for the
DSP-enhanced Tecsun PL-300WT Ultralight radio, for those of you still on the
fence about this innovative pocket radio, some further information may be
of interest.
Tecsun's primary focus in developing
Was checking this evening, and noted the carrier on 1566 earlier (0330
or so). Nothing on 783 at that time, but now at 0445 there is an
audible carrier on 783 , while the one on 1566 has vanished. Neither
was anywhere near audio, but quite decent at times (in terms of carriers)

Similar here altho 1566 is still here but much weaker no (0500) than
earlier... Other evenings no sign of 783.

Gary,
According to the ebay description of the Tecsun PL-300WT (by the seller
liypn), this radio uses the Silicon Labs Si4737 DSP chip which can only
demodulate MW, FM, and the Weather Band. See slide 12 of
https://www.silabs.com/Marcom%20Documents/Resources/Si473x_Presentation.pdf
and
1566. with a weak variable carrier (but audible het), and 783. with a
quite solid carrier, and good audible het when detuned, all just after 0500UT.
Any other takers?

I didn't remember to check until 0520 utc, 1566 had a poor aural het; 783 a
medium het. 1566 is now gone but 783 continues with a weak het, 0546 utc.
