Interesting that others had a different experience with Bruce. I wonder
if it made a difference being on a one on one with him? I have never
called in on his show, but I have listened off and on through the years.
By the way, I also met Dr. Laura. I wasn't impressed with her at all!

Bruce was in suit with no tie at the NAB, and seemed very laid back. I
sat there in a easy chair right across from him and we were talking one
on one. No one else was there for a while. A very bright guy.

Thanks Paul. I knew he had to be close to 80, as back in the 90s, he was
in his 60s, if I remember correctly.

I'd totally forgotten about that weird touchy feely theme music. I don't
listen to radio talk shows. I think a lot of the people call just to hear
their voice come out of the radio. Radio talk shows aren't educational or an
open forum for the public to express their feelings or ideas any more.

Mr. Google is a pretty smart guy. I consult him often.
I thought Bruce Williams would be wearing a nice suit or even dress a little
more casual than that. The expensive looking tuxedo struck me as severe
overkill. Who was he trying to impress? His manner of speech was completely
different than on
Remember that creepy theme song?

Someone to care
Someone you know
Who will always be there

I always knew the "callers" (all sounding between 25 and 54, natch)
were prescreened and heavily coached: no nutjobs, ramblers, etc. They

Paul,
Thanks for the age, I should have used google instead of Yahoo.

I had a very different experience when he came to Santa Barbara many years
ago. I'd been a regular listener for a long time. I enjoyed listening to his
no nonsense and insightful advice to the very interesting questions posed by
listeners. He came across as the nice guy who lives next door. One day
A quick google search gave me Mr Williams' age as 78

Pat,
I try to find the age of Bruce Williams, but could not find a age. He
was in the Korean war, so he's probably near 80 years of age. Found out
that Bruce is in the Radio Hall of Fame. He offered his recorded broadcasts
free of charge to stations carrying his program.

That is too bad, as I like Bruce Williams. Met him at an NAB convention
in LA back in the 90s. A nice guy, but he is way up in his years. He
must be close to 80.

Bruce Williams retires from live broadcasting on March 5, 2010
according to the Global American Broadcasting network.
His radio career started with NBC in 1981. I enjoy listening to
Bruce, but no local stations carry his program, so I have been
listening on line.

Listened from 1330-1405 utc and no audio and only very weak carriers on 594,
693 and 774. It looks like the TP season is about over this year it was a good
year but not as good as it was last year.
