They're easily the strongest 1280 at sunset in SF Bay Area.

Listened from 1244-1406 utc. Upper channels better than the lower
channels. Best signal of the morning goes to 1503 JOUK. Conditions
improved on upper channels just before sunrise.
279RUSSIA, Radio Rossii 1245 very weak.
774JAPAN, JOUB NHK2 1315 fair with a little splatter.

Mike,
Considering the distance, So Cal is generally not all that good here
except for the powerhouses like KFI or KNX and even those are 1/4 the
signal stations like KNBR or KGO. Anytime I get a new regional it is
very exciting. A GYer is even more rare. LA/ San Diego is close to
1,000 miles

Hello All,
Thanks for the TP reports from Dennis and Nick (so far). This morning I
was listening from 1340-1400 using the 7.5 loopstick PL-380 inductively
coupled to the 7.5' PVC box loop, and found fairly good conditions, especially
on the high band. 1503-JOUK (reported by Dennis) was

Gary, I often hear AFN with lots and lots of music that's popular with the
younger generation. Could be them, although the TOH always should have some
network news...Walt

Thanks Walt,
Chuck also sent an email suggesting AFN as a possibility, and after
listening to your MP3 of 1575-AFN in the Dxer.Ca Sound Byte section, I think
it's
the most likely possibility. The disco music station faded out just before
the 1400 TOH this morning, of course.

I am hearing French on 1440. Any idea as to where this is from? Barries list
hasn't any station listed in French. Sounds like Carribean music, Strong at

Gary,
I recently found AFN Sesebo on satellite. I have no idea if it is AM or
FM, it just shows up as AFN Sesebo. I think that is one that is on 1575.
I can easily record it on DVD/CD, if anyone wants to hear it too.
