Thanks Walt,
Your tips on AFN-1575's programming are very much appreciated.
By coincidence, I was a military dependent at one of those locations
(Iwakuni, Japan) from 1967-69, and listened to the station all the time. I
even
remember the transmitter location, close to the ocean beach. It
Gary,
FEN 810 used to be fairly common back in the early 80s here on the
coast, but I have not heard it for years. The Russian at Vladivostok
seems to be the one I hear now at LSR.
Back in the 60s when I lived in Seward AK, FEN 1550 (Tokyo) was
common. I think they were 10 KW. Later they
Thanks Walt. If you heard it in Kyoto, that is a fair distance, but at
least the one you heard got out and only on the 2010. What year was

Listened from 1308 to 1416 utc. Better conditions than yesterday
morning here. More Radio Rossii stations heard, but at weak levels.
Mostly Japanese stations and a few Chinese stations. VOA 1575 lately
has been weaker than in the past. Earlier in the season it was right
up there with HLAZ
Hi Dennis
Some nice DX for this time of the year! Iistened from 1305 1325 utc and the
only audio was from 279 Russia, JOAK-594, JOAB-693, JOUB-774 and HLAZ-1566.

Started listening a bit earlier this morning, 1225UT, and things were fairly
active for the 20 minutes that I was able to spend. Not much more was heard at
1345, and in fact, some things had faded out.
pretty darn good audio (all of it understandable by a native speaker, at least
briefly):

Hello All,
Like Dennis, I noticed conditions were improved from yesterday, although
there still wasn't any further appearance of 1575-AFN under VOA-Thailand.
Using the 7.5 loopstick Tecsun PL-380 and 7.5' PVC box loop, the
conditions here pretty closely matched those reported by Dennis,
Gary, 810 is not the easiest target on the coast here, but it has been
frequently heard, especially at the DX cottage on Haida Gwaii. I rather
enjoyed listening to it in Tokyo, but noted that it wasn't very strong
anywhere else..Walt.

Hi Gary,
This morning I was also part of the Puyallup Posse, searching for signs of
1575 AFN.
I didn't find any hint of them either, during 1355-1405 and 1455-1505
Perseus recordings of the band. Besides 1134 you mentioned, I also noted
1422 JORF Yokohama doing very well at 1402-1403.

Here in southern Alberta things were pretty similar to yesterday. For
the second day in a row Taiwan produced some audio on 1557.
Today's audio, heard between 1245 and 1315:
594 - JOAK, Japan, just traces of audio
693 - JOAB, Japan, 2nd best TP, after being inaudible yesterday
774 - JOUB,

Hi Guy,
Thanks for assisting on the 1575-AFN watch :-) It may be a while before
their signal makes it to Puyallup again, judging from the last couple of
days. Even 1575-VOA has been kind of anemic.
Walt's 2007 recording of 1575-AFN from Haida Gwaii (posted on DXer.Ca) is
far more
