You should therefore write CKWX and tell them that since they are stating that
the station is running 50,000 (sic) kilowatts.

Fine night here in IL using the TA BOGs and making me wish I was in WI where it
is more quite and I have 100 feet more room that direction. All sorts of
carriers and audios and 945 and 747 have been close to entertainment level on

If they are running 25KW, they have to be sending a ton of signal to the
NW, as I am 100 miles from them and their signal matches the 50 KWers in
Portland in signal. I can easily see why they QRM CKWX near LSS.

Does anyone know for sure if KPWX is indeed running 50kw? If not, CKWX ain't

My wife and I drove to S. Lake Tahoe 10/1-9 and I have just two comments:
1130 KPWX Mt. Angel did indeed do a good wrecking job on CKWX as we drove
southward from Tacoma. I would think the 1150 station in Portland would be
somewhat displeased.

Hello All,
Before 1400 it appeared that this morning's Asian propagation would
be very disappointing, with both the low and high band equally mediocre.
Like Bruce, though, I noticed a weird propagation boost around 1410, which
boosted up the Japanese low-band "big guns" to a freakishly

Must be something in the Victoria air, as like Walt, I started later than I
intended (1400UT), to be met with an antenna problem (disconnect due to wind),

definitely things were quieter on the lower band compared with the l

Missed the boat this morning having slept in until tune-in at 14:27 (visitors
with a young child crying and moaning all night long!). Nonetheless,
Conditions were a bit unstable today. Signals were generally down
quite a bit but there were some notable exceptions. JOHR-1287 had its
best signal of the season today, even though the low-band NHK stations
were below average. Some stations would fade up to a promising level

Listened from 1250-1330 utc and only a few very weak carriers were heard. The

Nick was right. The time frame being from midnight to 0600 Central time,
closer to midnight would be preferable.
