You might also try using baluns/ununs to reverse the phase of each antenna in different combinations. The pattern is going to change with frequency in any case. I've been trying something similar with phased loops but the new digs require a rethinking of that project. Thanks. I also have used

Hi Patrick. An interesting addition would be to place a 500-ohm potentiometer in series with each antenna. You could play with antenna interaction; even nulling. I hesitate to say phasing because you're really dealing only with resistance, not the overall reactance a phasor would handle.
