You might also try using baluns/ununs to reverse the phase of each
antenna in different combinations. The pattern is going to change with
frequency in any case.
I've been trying something similar with phased loops but the new digs
require a rethinking of that project.
Thanks. I also have used

Thanks! I did not bring my Grundig 400 but will next trip in May. I suspect a
lousy rx. I was in Barrow AK last year with my Grundig and even on the shores
of Arctic Ocean was less than amazed by what I hrd. A lot of buzz and KBRW on
multiple channels! G

Hi Patrick. An interesting addition would be to place a 500-ohm
potentiometer in series with each antenna. You could play with antenna
interaction; even nulling. I hesitate to say phasing because you're
really dealing only with resistance, not the overall reactance a phasor
would handle.

Here is the list of who heard what - or tried and didn't - or maybe did. Please
excuse the delay in sending this. I am having computer troubles to the extreme.
The only good news being that the new lap and notebook systems I've just bought

I've heard that if you dx at night right on the beach with a radio that can
tune the splits, say a good old Sony 2010, you can hear Australians and Asians

Euskadi Irratia SHOULD be in Basque, not Spanish. Basque may have a few
Spanish words, but is more closely related to Finnish. Not to say that there
isn't Spanish on the station, but Basque more likely. Jim

On Oahu, where I lived for nine years, I was surprised by how much

electrical interference, I was able to log Pacific Islands and Australia,

Basque has no relationship to French as it is not a Latin language.
In Spain, the origin of the Basques was a subject of occasional discussion. The
most accepted theories (at least amongst my acquaintances in Madrid and
Wikipedia) is that Basque has some linguistic roots in common
Basque is considered a linguistic isolate. That is, it's not related to any
other language.
Two of the best known isolates are Japanese and Korean.

Now that I'm home, I can see that the Finnish link to Basque is iffy now,
but that there is some sort of connection to a Caucasian language group that
predates the expansion of Romance language in Europe. In any event, it ain't
a Spanish or French variant! Jim Renfrew
